reX, I was wondering if there is anywhere I can download your show
when your not live. I was on www.Gay.com and I found there gay radio
page has saved files of all the gaybc shows, but yours.
I always end up missing one or the another of your shows. So it
would be great to be able to play the ones I miss later in the day.
If you don't have a place maybe you could put them on www.freediskspace.com
its free and you can store 300mb. You can share a folder on it as
a url and all they have to do it sing up for a free account to play
the files. If you really don't like that I would be happy to make
a web site for it if you can provide the files..

a plea for help! . gay refugees!
Hi reX, I need YOU!!! No, no, no reX, not THAT way! ;) ;) On a
serious note, I sincerely DO have a favor to ask of you however
and it is of a rather IMPORTANT nature. It IS a matter of LIFE AND
DEATH for two very close friends if mine. I do want to say that
I AM NOT placing their lives into your hands BUT only that I believe
in >>>strength in numbers<<< and hopefully with your program(s)
on gayBC radio, we (ALL of our gay brothers and sisters within listening
distance) can help my friends from the depths of despair and frustration
that they find themselves in. Of all the places on earth, my friends
are from Serbia/Bosnia and are also a gay couple who are DESPERATE
to get out of that country. We in this country have all been witness
to, especially within the past year on TV, newspapers and across
the web, the devastation from politics and the horrors of war that
so many people from that country have endured. My friends have had
the fortunate experience of being born gay (and I DO BELIEVE that
it is a gift) BUT the unfortunate experience of being born into
the Yugoslav region of this world where there is not only so much
chaos and war but also a place where a gay person or couple is in
CONSTANT daily fear for their lives with every step that they take.
I have shared with these two beautiful human beings, my friends........that
although we do not have a perfect life here in the USA, I cannot
imagine what life must be like for them to live (and many times
die) in such an atmosphere of political chaos, ethnic problems and
the added primitive attitudes towards people whose only crime is
to LOVE someone of the same gender. At one point last summer, my
friends were physically separated from each other by their families
and had their lives threatened if they continued to see each other.
No matter what part of the world we live in, we all know the power
of LOVE and that it transcends ALL boundaries...........boundaries
of gender as well as boundaries imposed by countries. My friends
have gone to GREAT lengths to be together. They fled to Budapest,
Hungary and have been held in limbo for almost 4 months now! They
have been in constant contact with the United States embassy in
Budapest as well as other agencies there. Thus far, they have encountered
constant rudeness and the typical "red tape run-around" that our
government agencies are so well known for. --- and I are trying
to help them to come to the USA and to the safety of our home, so
far without any luck. We naively thought that they would be in our
arms LONG before this. I do understand that there are proper procedures
to follow but I have ALSO encountered the rudeness and red tape
of our government here that our friends have endured there and throughout
these past 4 months we nor they have mentioned anything about their
gayness for fear that they would suffer even more. I've been in
touch with the INS as well as the embassy in Budapest with little
success. My friends have RECENTLY discovered that they may have
a better chance of emigrating to Canada where they are offered much
less political and governmental bullshit........unlike the good
ol' USA. They have been told by the Canadian embassy in Budapest
that they will need a total of 5 people from Canada to act as their
"Guarantors", people who will vouch for them and "sponsor" them.
These are some words of my friends from there last e-mail (March
14, 2000) to us:

There is a procedure for refugees to get the Canadian permanent
> residence ("Landid Immigrant" in Canadian terms) in > six to eight
months. With that permit it is possible > to travel to the USA without
any problem. > What we need is a group of five employed adults,

The United States after all that won't be a > problem at all. >
That procedure is VERY safe. We asked for it, and > everyone who
had such five people (guarantors), wasn't > rejected from the procedure,
so more than 95% of > people come to Canada. > What you need to
do is to find some friends, cousins > or anyone that you know in
Canada, and you should be > in good relations with people, so they
want to help > you and us. Ask through your family is there any
> friend, cousin or someone like that who lives in > Canada. When
you find a Canadian citizen, he or she > can help finding more four
people, so they could make > the "Group of Five Individuals." The
most important > thing is that everyone should be from the same
> Canadian province, but could be from different cities. > Toronto
is the closest, ((to ----- and myself here in Pennsylvania)) and,
for example, the best > would be if they are from province Ontario.
But that > province is not a must, of course.
reX, I have gone to great lengths and had MANY sleepless nights
trying to think of a way to help my friends into the safety and
security of not only our country but also our home. I have been
in contact with ----- and ----- for almost 2 years now and know
them better than I know my own neighbors. I trust them and I love
them. I need 5 people from Canada who are willing to go out of their
way as I have been trying to do on my own. It is mainly a matter
of procedure and some paperwork but they will also have a period
of 5 or 6 months to get to know my friends and love these two souls
as ----- and I do. ----- and ----- are not only MY friends but they
are also OUR brothers and they REALLY need help. As my friends,
I WANT to help my them to begin a new life no matter if in Canada
or here with ----- and I. They are not just 2 figments of my imagination
but ARE two scared and confused men waiting at this moment........day
after day, with so many delays, already in a country that is foreign
to them. Can you help us? Can your listeners help us. If you can
do a program on gay people or couples who have been refugees along
with their own stories or ANY suggestions and how to help our friends
and ESPECIALLY any Canadian brothers or sisters who might offer
their kindness, their hearts and their assistance............
pLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. hopefully IF YOU CAN do a
program and ask for help, please do not announce ----- and -----'s
names on the air. This can be a small world which can sometimes
be almost as frustrating as a large impersonal world............and
I do not want to risk causing any additional problems for them.
If we can together find 5 people from Canada who are willing to
help, I will gladly share my e-mail and any information as well
as a phone number and e-mail where ----- and ----- can be reached
in Budapest (with their permission of course). Although it is a
6 hour time difference in Budapest (from the east coast USA), maybe
they could even personally share their story over the air with you
and your listeners? Sorry for such a lengthy letter but this is
SO important to me........as it SHOULD be. sINCERELY,
